An Ode to Cats... 🖌

Having repeatedly borrowed ‘Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats’ (I was certain my cat was a jellicle cat) from the local library growing up, I’ve been thinking if there are any other great cat poems out there!

So I had a little google, and it turns out there are SO MANY. I can’t say I’m at all surprised that cats have inspired so many creative works (although I will keep my mouth zipped about the recent movie adaptation :scream_cat:), and I’d love to see any others that you all might have come across.

Please share your favourite cat poems with us - or why not make one up yourself?

Here’s one of mine, that always fills me with the warm fuzzies:

I love this from my primary school days…

Cats sleep anywhere, any table, any chair.
Top of piano, window-ledge, in the middle, on the edge.
Open draw, empty shoe, anybody’s lap will do.
Fitted in a cardboard box, in the cupboard with your frocks.
Anywhere! They don’t care! Cats sleep anywhere.

1881 - 2021 more like!

Pop a line in about sleeping on laptops, tablets and computers too, and I could promise I haven’t read something more true!
